I used greek style yogurt instead of sour cream and I really liked this for a dip.
Bland. Even with more garlic, and good amounts of salt and pepper. There's an excess of sour cream taste, and it does nothing for the spinach. Something about this recipe is a bit off the flavours just don't marry well. It got worse, not better, over 24 hrs in the fridge.
I doubled this recipe with one bag of fresh spinach (9 oz.). I was out of green onion, so I used 1 cup sour cream and 1 cup french onion dip. It turned out fabulous! I'll use the pita triangle recipie a ton as well.
Very good and very easy. I added a Thai pepper--I like it a little hot. Umm. those of you who found it bland. you do realize that you have to add salt to taste, don't you?
The bonus to this dip: it was easy. But the bland comments were right on. I used 3/4 c sour cream, added cayenne pepper, salt, a tablespoon of mayo, garlic powder (in addition to the sauteed garlic), black pepper, and I topped it with paprika and a garnish of kale. Not bad after all that. I'll make it again, but i'll add more kick with more hot stuff.
i added twice the amount of spinach and sauteed with not only garlic but some crushed red pepper. before blending i added two raw garlic cloves and some whole black peppercorns. not the greatest dip, but i will make again
i added twice the amount of spinach and sauteed with not only garlic but crushed red pepper. before blending i added another two cloves of raw garlic and a few whole black peppercorns.
This spinache dip is VERY bland and basically tastes like sour cream with a hintof garlic. I even added extra garlic, a bit of tobasco sauce and more slat and it still tastes bland.
I do not understand why anyone thinks this dip is bland. I was relieved to find a dip that had such fresh flavor, yet was not overly-flavored like the store bought dips everyone is so used to. The only change I made was to add more garlic. I did not make the pita triangles, just used fresh cut vegetables. If you want a good, fresh non-artificial dip, this is it. This recipe has become my standard homemade dip. Works well with frozen or fresh spinach.
I thought this recipe was delicious! Before making it, I read the reviews, SO I added a few more garlic cloves, i added garlic salt to the spinach sautee and to the final product and i poured some hot sauce in the procedssor and in the end product. It is simply delicious and it hasn't even chilled yet!
Originally tried this only because I had a ton of sour cream to use up. I did take the suggestions. added salt/pepper then 1/4c.grated romano and Tbl.hot sauce. very good. give it a try. It's easy and the flavors are complimentary. Everyone loved it.
As per previous reviews, yes, this dip needs help. Very bland as made according to directions. I "fixed" by adding 1/4 c. yogurt to brighten, 1 tsp. basil and 1/3 c. grated asiago cheese. Allow to "age" for about 4 hours. It was very good but really needed those extras.
I thought this dip was great ! It was very fresh tasting. The color is vibrant ! Next time, perhaps, I would use about 3/4 Cup of sour cream and 1 1/2 teaspoons of garlic. As the previous reviewer said, salt and pepper do help.
It was surprising to read reviews about the blandness of the dip. A bit of salt and pepper made this delicious. Seasoned salt on pita was also more tasty. More than two rounds of pita should be used for dip, even with assorted vegggies for dipping. Looks pretty with pita, yellow peppers and carrots.
If you like garlic, this will be a hit because it's just about all you'll taste. With some modifications (less garlic, cream cheese in lieu of some sour cream, additional seasoning) this does have potential. More suited as a vegetable dip than a dip for pita chips. I too will make the pita chips again for other dips/spreads. though
This is a good and easy dip. I have made it three times and served it with the pita chips, steamed sugar snap peas, and thinly sliced bell peppers. It looks fresh and colorful.
Very healthy, fresh and light sensation. Goes great with carrots and celery.
This is the 2nd time I've made this dip. I thought I perhaps had done something wrong the 1st time, because it turned out rather bland. So the 2nd time I added more garlic and onions and let it sit overnight. And guess what. still bland! Iɽ make the pita triangles again to use with another dip, but I'm afraid the recipe section for the dip is going to be trashed.
The dip is very good, but it really needs to sit at least overnight for it to develop it's true flavor. I served it with paremsan pita crips which were a big hit too.
A pretty green color with good dose of garlic. Good response from our guests and easy to make ahead of time.
I thought the pita triangles were great but the dip was tasteless.
This was good, but I added some artichokes and it was great! Served it at a party to rave reviews.
This was a little too garlicky for me (and I like garlic), though my guests really loved it.
Two iconic party snacks make one delicious pizza dip.
Get ready for the ultimate Super Bowl appetizer or any-time-comfort food: Cheesy, creamy pepperoni pizza dip is the perfect recipe for a small get-together or a cozy night in. Layered with cream cheese, sour cream, Parmesan cheese and mozzarella, there is absolutely no shortage of gooey goodness for you to dip into. To really bring on the pizza flavor, we added fresh garlic, oregano, marinara sauce and a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat. Topped with mini pepperoni slices, this fast and easy party dip features everything you love about a classic pie in snackable form.
Wondering what to serve with it? Choose your favorite carb! We love baguette slices, but any sturdy bread or breadstick will do. Try a toasted, quartered bagel (or even bagel chips!) for a delicious twist on a pizza bagel. If you&rsquod like something a little saltier, go for pita chips or pretzels. Really, a spoon is all you need.
How to make Pizza Dip
This recipe will be a guaranteed hit among your family, and you&rsquoll love it too because it&rsquos so easy to make. Just combine cream cheese, sour cream, garlic, oregano and crushed pepper in a bowl, then stir in the mozzarella and some of the Parmesan cheese.
Transfer the mixture to a baking dish, top with your favorite pizza sauce, then sprinkle with more (!) mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Finally, arrange the pepperoni slices on top and bake until the top is bubbling and melty. Warm up plenty of baguette slices for dunking, and dive in!
Pizza Dip Tips
We ended up serving ours with pita chips and it was great!! We like to have breadsticks at many of our Italian night dinners, so I’m thinking this dip will be great side to go with the bread. Maybe even sliced french bread? Here are even more dipping ideas:
Make this a day ahead of time. Assemble all the ingredients in the pan as directed, but do not bake. Instead, cover and place it in the fridge. When you’re ready to bake, let it sit on the counter for about 20 minutes before throwing it in the oven.
With a little change, you can also make this dip in the slow cooker! Add the cream cheese mixture to the bottom of the crockpot, followed by the pizza sauce, then top it with cheese.
The added step is to precook the pepperoni in a skillet. This way it is nice and crisp, otherwise it will be a little limp if cooked solely in the crockpot. Once all the layers have been assembled cover and cook on LOW heat for at least an hour.

Toasted Pita Bread Triangles
Pita bread is used to make pita wraps and sandwiches, but it is also wonderful as a bread on an appetizer tray for dips. I remember the first time I had toasted pita triangles and how simply delicious they were served with hummus. To use it for appetizers, it does need to be toasted or crisped. Toasted Pita Bread Triangles are one of many appetizer ideas I will be sharing over the next few weeks. Start with a package of pita bread or flatbread.
You can use either the flat bread as I have done here or the pocket pita type — it really doesn’t matter. You can also use either the traditional white pita bread or whole wheat. Try it plain the first time you make it to just enjoy the simple goodness of this bread. Then, add some extra pizzazz the next time you make this by adding salt or different types of dried herbs before you bake it.

Different Pita Pizza Recipes To Try
Now that you know how to make a basic pita pizza, take a look at some of these pita pizza recipes to completely elevate pizza night!
Salad Pita Pizza
When I was younger, I worked at a restaurant that sold salad pizzas and they were absolutely delicious! Basically, it was a white individual pizza that had a caesar salad on top. The cold salad on top of the hot pizza was addicting. I ordered it all the time. Anyway, I created my own healthier version of this recipe.
- Brush the pita bread with olive oil and crushed garlic.
- Then, sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top and then add a couple of slices of tomatoes.
- Bake for 15- 20 minutes in a 375-degree oven.
- While it’s baking, take 1 1/2 cups of chopped romaine and mix it with 2 tablespoons of Caesar dressing and 2 teaspoons of grated parmesan. You can also use 1-cup or so of a premade Caesar salad kit.
- When the pizza is done, top with the salad and enjoy!
Buffalo Chicken Pita Pizza
We make this pita pizza a lot because I often have leftover shredded buffalo chicken.
For this recipe, you’ll need to:
- Brush some olive oil and crushed garlic on the pita. Then, add about ¼ cup of shredded Buffalo chicken on top of the pita bread.
- Top it off with some shredded mozzarella or provolone.
- Next, add thinly sliced red or white onions and sliced tomatoes.
- Cook it in a 375-degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and toppings are hot.
- Add some shredded lettuce and drizzle with yogurt blue cheese dressing.
This pita pizza is on the next level!
Cooking note: If the shredded chicken is cold, then warm it up in the microwave for a minute or so before putting the pizza together.
Chicken And Spinach Alfredo Pizza
This is another one of my personal pita pizza favorites. I’ve been making this for a decade! I love chicken alfredo pizza! It’s the perfect way to curb an alfredo craving without all the fat and carbs. I usually make this when I have leftover rotisserie chicken but, any shredded chicken will work.
- Mix a 1/4 cup of shredded chicken with about 3 tablespoons of jarred alfredo sauce.
- Then, thinly slice (or chop) a small handful of baby spinach (regular spinach will work too) and mix it into the chicken and alfredo.
- Spread the chicken alfredo mixture onto the pita bread and sprinkle with a few tablespoons of shredded mozzarella.
- Bake it in a 375-degree oven for 15 – 20 minutes.
Cooking Note: For this recipe, my favorite and preferred jarred alfredo sauce is the Rao’s brand. I highly recommend it! Again, if the chicken is cold, you’ll want to warm it up before mixing it into the alfredo or spinach.
Caprese Pita Pizza
My oldest daughter loves this one! This variation is the simplest to make. It includes fresh mozzarella, tomato, and fresh basil.
